Tell us a little about the history of Plainview Animal Clinic.
Dr. Long of Plainview Animal Clinic: I bought Welch Animal clinic from Dr. Welch on January 2 1998. We spent a little over five years in a strip mall less than a block from Vista Bank’s Plainview branch. With Vista’s assistance, we were able to buy the property on Interstate 27, where we are currently located. Vista was there by our side as we made necessary renovations and added a building for boarding. We changed the name to Animal Clinic of Plainview in 2004.

What services does your practice provide?
Dr. Long: We are a dog and cat exclusive clinic that really enjoys doing more detailed surgeries, especially canine orthopedic procedures. Most of our staff has been with us for several years. My office manager, Julia, was working for Welch Animal Clinic when I bought the practice and has been a huge asset and loyal employee ever since. We truly consider her part of the family. Cindy Shannon has worked with us for over a decade and veterinarian Dr. John Scott has been part of the practice for over a decade as well.

What makes Plainview Animal Clinic different from other local veterinarian offices?
Dr. Long: We set ourselves apart by striving to continue to educate ourselves to stay abreast of the ever-changing practice of veterinary medicine. We pride ourselves on offering the latest in medicine and surgery for your furry best friend.

What is your clinic’s motto?
Dr. Long: We have two mottos. Our official tagline is “Your Pet’s Best Friend” and our unofficial motto is “Major de Nada,” which means “better than nothing.” Although we are very serious about our work, we understand the importance of having a good sense of humor!

Why do you bank with Vista?

Dr. Long: There are a couple of reasons I bank with Vista Bank. My mom began banking with Security Bank in Ralls in the Late 1950's. I started banking with the Millers when I came to town in 1998. Vista Bank has treated me very well ever since. They were my first bank in Plainview. When I moved to my new location, they were very supportive and loyal to me. And when I built my house they went above and beyond to assist me in that process. Anything I need in the way of banking, they provide. Logan, Gracie, Lisa, and the rest of the bankers at Vista’s Plainview branch know who I am when I walk in and always answer my questions and help me in any way I need.
