DALLAS, TX (May 1, 2024) – Dallas-based Vista Bank is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Military Outpost at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson PGA event May 2nd – May 5th on the TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
Located at the tee box of the seventh hole, the Military Outpost provides covered as well as outdoor seating for former and active military members and their families to watch and enjoy the tournament, free of charge. Guests are given complimentary tickets to the viewing area, where they can also enjoy light bites and beverages.
“Having grown up on military bases from Guam to Abilene as the son of a father who served, I have a tremendous amount of respect for the sacrifices and contributions these men and women make to ensure our freedom,” said John D. Steinmetz, President and CEO of Vista Bank. “It’s our honor to show our appreciation by supporting this project and other veteran causes across the markets we serve.”
“As a U.S. Army veteran, the Military Outpost is one of my favorite features of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson,” added Dexter & Company CEO, Bill Davis. “Having served on the Vista Bank Board of Directors for seven years, the Board and I could not be more pleased to support these heroes by hosting them and their families this week.”
“I want to thank John Steinmetz, Bill Davis, and the team at Vista Bank for sponsoring the Outpost, but even more so for their ongoing support for veteran causes and veteran-owned businesses like ours at Gallantry Logistics and Live to Give,” said John Wayne Walding, a decorated war hero who lost his leg to a sniper in the Battle of Shok Valley. Walding returned fire for four more hours with his severed limb tied to his thigh. The harrowing six-hour fight is detailed in the book “No Way Out: A Story of Valor in the Mountains of Afghanistan.”
Walding has since co-founded a bottled water company, Live to Give, that gives back 50 percent of their net profits to support those who serve. He’s also the Founder & CEO of Gallantry Global Logistics whose purpose it is to provide the next mission for veterans transitioning from their service to this great nation. Both businesses are Vista Bank clients
